Project Unveil! #mountainviewemergency
One look at this project, and you can tell how much fun it was! The young homeowners were great to work with, and they have a home in a great location with fantastic views. However, the existing configuration of windows wasn’t highlighting the vistas that really make this part of the world special, and the overall feel wasn’t very current.
The husband handcrafted many of the elements that were already in their home. And the wife had done her homework—she had a good idea of where she wanted to go with the remodel (including several windows to enhance mountain views, mud room/entryway, kitchen and dining room, first floor flooring and paint, as well as three bathrooms), and they just needed some help getting there.
We worked with a local craftsman, Trent Blanksma at Pinnacle Custom Interiors, to design the new kitchen layout and cabinetry. A subtle blue from Sherwin Williams (Mount Etna 7625) is a perfect way to add some color, while also keeping the wood elements front and center. Lots of walnut and quarter-sawn wood add warmth and a connection to the natural world.
The main floor bathroom also got an overhaul with large hex tiles and black floor tile and a rustic vanity by the same craftsman.
The upstairs master bath also changed dramatically — marble herringbone tile in the enlarged walk-in shower, wood-look ceramic tile flooring, a classic white subway tile wainscot and backsplash, and corner windows to bring in light and maximize views.
Since the homeowners and their guests rarely use the front door, the mud room/entry way from the driveway needed to reflect our clients’ style, while also remaining super functional. Trent, at Pinnacle Custom Interiors, helped us make this space shine. Walnut paneling, a sink that can be covered when not in use, and blue cabinetry housing a small pantry as well as a place to stash their supply of outdoor gear, helps this space be both a welcoming (and COOL!) entryway, as well as a functional mud room.
I’m a little bit obsessed with this project and the end result. It was a fun collaboration, and I hope this dynamic couple makes many happy memories in their newly imagined space.
